Why do so many people (ME included) love Santa?
Well, does it really matter what makes us love Santa? I have had the opportunity to create Santas that reflect the specialness of the people for whom they were made. We are each unique, with different interests, with different milestone events in our lives. Why not own a Santa that reflects a person's unique story?
And take a look at how Santa spends the off season. Sporting Santas have been a hot item on the Eastern Shore of Maryland: Fisherman, Golfers, Hunters, or tell ME about your favorite pasttime. Santa is a universal symbol that means warmth, family and caring. The only limitation on Santa’s "look" is your imagination. Is it because of the beauty of the figure itself? Is it the desire to have something totally unique? Or is it the nostalgic feeling of knowing Santa is in the house? 
Pictured here is a Santa I was commissioned to make as a retirement gift for a teacher of American history. The red velvet coat is trimmed with recycled Arctic hare fur. The garland is full of sport memorabilia (basketball, catcher's mitt, soccer ball) that were important to the recipient. His school mascot (Native American) is also there. And the miniature accessories in the backpack also correspond to this gentleman's career as a teacher: the American flag, the "book" of American history, etc. This was truly a unique gift and keepsake right down to the bow tie and glasses, his daily attire.
One time a lady asked me to make five Santas using her mother's wedding gown. She wanted to give her four daughters a keepsake from their grandmother's wedding. And of course, she kept the fifth for herself. The gown was 60 years old.
